BOOK CLUB QUESTIONS: Eye for an Eye

Welcome to our January 2024 book club questions for Eye for an Eye by M.J. Arlidge

 

  1. Do you believe the likes of Mark Willis et al. deserve a second chance at life, given the gravity of their crimes?
  2. Do you believe any criminal deserves a second chance? Where do you draw the line?
  3. Where do you stand on the nature vs. nurture debate? How much of a person’s characteristics is determined by genetics, and how much is down to their upbringing?
  4. If you discovered the new identity of a serious offender, what would you do with that information? What if they were living next door to you?
  5. The serious offenders had tragic pasts. Did you feel sorry for any of them?
  6. Sam’s dad advises him to ‘finally cut the cord (with Emily) once and for all.’ Do you think this was the right advice?
  7. Do you think motherhood made a difference to the female perpetrators and their chance of staying good? Do you think the author wrote the female characters softer than the male ones? If so, why?
  8. What did you think of the ending? Were you surprised at who the mole was?
